Y Combinator's public directory
Every company, batch, one-liner, tags, industry, team size, location, website and status comes from YC's public company directory at ycombinator.com/companies, read through the community-maintained yc-oss mirror of the index behind it (mirror last updated 2026-09-23). Status (Active, Acquired, Public, Inactive) is YC's own label.
Founders
Founder names and titles are read from each company's own YC page. No photos and no founder pages: people appear only on their company's page.
Categories
AI, data and developer tools come from YC's own tags and industry. Companies YC has not tagged yet (most of the newest batch) are read from their one-liner and description. New untagged companies may be checked by a model in one batched call per week; those carry an Unverified badge until reviewed. A company can be in more than one category; the tile colour in the river is AI first, then data, then developer tools.
Refresh
Every Monday at 11:00 UTC: new companies, changed fields and status changes, which appear on the home page under Where are they now.
Across fru.dev
Company pages link to the same company on companies.fru.dev, funding.fru.dev, acquisitions.fru.dev and other fru.dev sites when it is there, through the shared company registry.
